Transitioning from Summer to Winter Skincare

As the temperature drops, the heaters kick on. Forced heat, fireplaces, and space heaters all suck the moisture out of the air, and your skin! Then you step outside into the icy Ozarks air, removing any hydration left in your skin. So, what's a skin-conscious person to do to prevent completely drying out and becoming a member of The California Raisins?

The time between the end of Summer and the beginning of Winter (also known as Autumn 😆) is the best time to switch up your routine!

Amp Things Up

Winter is the optimal time to focus on reversing any damage that we did over the Summer, don’t lie, your Esthetician knows everything! It’s a good time to add in active ingredients that can sensitize your skin to the sun. Chemical peels, glycolic cleansers and retinaldehyde are all great ways to reverse sun damage and premature signs of aging. It is important to NOT overdo it, though. These treatments and ingredients can dry out your skin, so please use caution.

Moisturize Moisturize Moisturize!

The next thing to swap when the weather cools down is your moisturizer! Most of us need something a bit richer in the Winter, even those of us with oily skin. It is super important to make sure that we are sealing in as much hydration as possible this time of year. I love a moisturizer with Shea Butter! I know that probably sounds heavy, but in the right formulation, its a dream! Shea butter acts as a barrier, keeping hydration in, and the elements out! Using a rich moisturizer on top of your Vitamin-C or Hyaluronic acid serum is an amazing way to lock in all that goodness!

If there’s a time to use a facial oil, it’s Fall and Winter! If you know me, you know I have a serious love for facial oils! I didn’t always, though. I have extremely oily skin, so I thought using oil would just make it so much worse. That couldn’t be further from the truth though! Using the right blend of oils can make all the difference in your skin! Oil balances oil, tricking your skin into producing less over time. A good Facial Oil will add so much to your skin, improving hydration and cellular function, softening fine lines and wrinkles, and let’s not forget about that GLOW!

Get Professional Facials

There’s no better time than the present to start a Facial routine! Regular facials help to reduce premature aging, strengthen circulation, tone muscles, tighten skin, deep clean the pores, and reduce stress! If you want a fool-proof winter skincare routine, bring it up at your next facial so we can get you set up for success! If you’ve never been in to see me, what are you waiting for? I’d love to team up and help you reach your skincare goals! You can reserve your appointment HERE, I recommend a Custom Facial or Crystal Fusion Facial for new clients!
